Seed and Edible Cleaning & Separation Systems
Process Equipment & Design LLC provides engineering and facility design services for seed processing and edible product cleaning and separation systems. These systems are used to prepare agricultural products for storage, packaging, or further processing through the removal of foreign material, dust, and off-size particles.
Services include the development of Process Flow Diagrams, facility master planning, and detailed 3D and 2D CAD system layouts for new plants as well as upgrades or expansions to existing processing facilities.
Three-dimensional facility modeling allows equipment placement, product flow, and maintenance access to be evaluated during the design phase, helping reduce construction conflicts and improving overall plant efficiency.
Typical projects involve the design and integration of cleaning, separation, dust control, and packaging systems used in the preparation of seed and edible agricultural products.
Diverse Seed Processing Experience
Dwight Kinzer has unusually diverse experience with seed handling and processing systems. Early in his career he worked in the seed industry in Southern Idaho during the 1980s and early 1990s, when the region supported a wide range of seed processing operations. This exposure provided practical experience with many different seed types and the specialized equipment required to clean, separate, handle, and package them.
Seed systems and equipment experience includes:
-
Edible bean processing and edible bean seed systems
-
Alfalfa seed processing
-
Garden seed cleaning and packaging
-
Hybrid corn seed handling systems
-
Soybean seed processing
-
Cereal grain seed cleaning systems
-
Flower seed processing
-
Native grass seed processing
-
Turfgrass seed systems
Because each seed type behaves differently during cleaning, separation, and handling, effective plant design requires familiarity with a wide range of processing equipment and flow configurations. This early industry experience continues to inform the design of modern seed processing facilities.
Practical Knowledge of Seed Processing Operations
Seed processing facilities are often more complex than conventional grain handling systems because each seed type has unique physical characteristics that influence how it must be cleaned, separated, handled, and stored. Effective plant design requires familiarity not only with individual pieces of equipment, but with how those machines are combined into a complete processing flow.
Having worked directly with a wide range of seed processing operations earlier in his career, Dwight Kinzer developed practical knowledge of the equipment and process flows used in commercial seed plants. This experience helps ensure that facility layouts reflect the realities of seed processing operations, including product flow behavior, equipment access, dust control, and efficient packaging and loadout systems.
